A first-world and very well developed city, Dubai has excellent public transportation services! One of the best in the world, in fact. Right from the airport, however, you can take the bus or the metro into the city; approximately 45 minutes of travel time. If you would like to travel around the city area, you can always take the Water Taxi (Abra), a boat ride that traverses through the Dubai Creek.
The monorail system is a very efficient and reliable way to get around the city. The two lines, Green Line and Red Line, covers a large area of the city and will take you the most popular areas such as Dubai Creek and Union Square. If you need privacy and ultimate comfort (and speed), you can always opt for taxis too, though they may cost more, depending on the travel time and destination.
